What you’ll find there…
There are two sections to this attractive walk. Southwood Country Park (West), accessed from Kennels Lane, and Southwood Country Park (East) on the other side of Ively Road.
The western area has a fantastic selection of mature trees, lending a parkland feel to this former golf course. This area also has a great surfaced path around the whole route.
On the other side of the A327 Ively Road is a second area, Southwood Country Park (East), open to the public, including what used to be the golf club car park and club house, now a vistor centre and café. By including the west and east areas, walks of over 5km are possible (see route).
If you plan to link your walk with neighbouring Southwood Woodland, look out for the small bridge at What3Words: open.gravy.slim. There’re lots of variations possible, including linking Southwood Woodland and Hartland Country Park (see route).
Be sure to visit the café at Chalk in the Park and keep up to date with Rushmoor Borough Council’s plans here.
NOTE: There’s dog-proof fencing along the boundaries of Ively Road. As of April 2024 Esso pipeline works are pretty much complete and it looks as if there is just some temporary fencing to be removed.
