A visit to Brooklands…

As a lifelong local, I’ve visited Brooklands Community Park many times over the years, even before it became one of our official fabulous ‘Greenspace on your doorstep’ walks. It has certainly blossomed and is great for recreational sport, fantastic for honing your skating skills and its openness allows for anything from picnics to kite flying. Over the back, beyond the open area, I noticed some great wildlife interest, birds were singing, insects scuttling and even a rabbit hopped right out in front of me. It still feels like an honour to be able to walk on the historic racing track, where the first British Grand Prix was hosted in 1926. And there are lovely areas where wildflowers grow and people can just wander around peacefully taking in the beautiful surroundings.
I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to Brooklands Community Park and if you’re in the area I can highly recommend it.
Enjoy my gallery…
- Impressive sections of the banked track remain intact.
- Wooded areas make Brooklands Community Park an attractive place for a walk.
- A sign points you in the right direction.
- Large areas of tarmac are echos of important aviation history, and now make fantastic recreational areas.
- A recent addition is a natural play area.
- When I visited, the bluebells were just coming out.
- Hawthorne in flower.
- There are lovely green areas, great for wildlife.
- Another recent addition is a small toilet block.
